Let’s face it – with the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it can be easy to forget to give yourself a break. Just like a machine needs all of its parts to work, we need to make sure we’re taking care of ourselves fully from the outside in. With the sunny city of Orlando at our disposal, it’s easy to do just that. Here are some ways to give yourself “me-time.”

Salons

Nothing beats the feel of a great haircut, but it can be hard to find a stylist or salon that understands your hair. From personalized consultations to the hottest hair trends, this salon offers plenty of options to take your hair to the next level. Their salon also stocks the highest quality of hair care products, such as Bumble & Bumble and Kerastase.

Looking for a bigger change? Jacq & Jack in Lake Nona not only offers hair services, but they also have a barbershop, nail salon, and a coffee shop. Services also include body waxing and eyelash extensions. Why settle for one type of service when you can get multiple all in the same afternoon? And while you’re pampering yourself in their shop, get some puppy therapy as well – the coffee shop portion of the salon is pet friendly.

Exercise Studios and Gyms

It’s been scientifically proven that exercise boosts your mood and Barre3 in Winter Park knows how to get your heart pumping. Combining cardio with the gracefulness of ballet, these full-body workouts not only build your muscles, they help build your inner peace. The studio specializes in finding your balance through your workouts and in life, and aims to create a positive experience that lasts past your session.

CKO Kickboxing in the Thornton Park area of downtown offers a workout for those who are looking for more of a challenge. These high-energy workouts burn calories fast by mixing short-interval cardio with heavyweight punching bags for maximum impact. Don’t worry – you don’t need to be kickboxing pro to join as they offer classes for all experience levels.

The beauty industry is constantly changing, but the desire to always look your best stays the same. It can be hard to decide what treatments and products are going to work for your skin when there are so many new options to choose from, but we’ve handpicked some emerging trends that everyone’s skin is going to love this year.

The latest technology, products and practices of 2019 are going to put a modern spin on the best you. Here are some of the biggest skincare trends in 2019 that are going to make your complexion youthful for years to come.

Smart Beauty

Your toothbrush can scan the inside of your mouth, analyze your brushing habits and give you tips for maximizing your dental health. It’s time your skincare products did the same amount of work.

Beauty gadgets and apps are no longer a thing of the future. In 2019, you can expect to see predictive skincare tools that will give you a trajectory of where your skin is headed and give advice on how to effectively treat the issues you have. By scanning problematic areas of your face, you’ll be able to get a reading that explains the issues you’re experiencing and some recommended products to help solve them.

SPF All Year Round

Sunscreen isn’t just for summer anymore. Preventative care is the best way to take care of your skin to protect it from underlying problems in the future—and 2019 will be the best year in sun care yet.

Sun damage can cause wrinkles, dark spots and types of skin cancer, which is why companies are making SPF more widely available and upping the amount. Both drugstore and high-end brands are starting to create their own SPF-based skincare products and integrating SPF into the products they already make.

The Whole Truth

Brands are starting to remove harsh fragrances and unnecessary chemicals from products into order to feel confident in a transparent approach. Added perfumes can serve as irritants and end up agitating the skin you’re trying to protect.

Clean skincare ingredients are going to make waves in 2019 as brands start to focus more on naturally sourced, organic and high-quality products to match the nutrients we put on our body with those we put in our body. Look for ingredients like kiwi extract and prebiotics to give your skin a healthy glow that will radiate from the inside out.

One Is Better Than Two

Say goodbye to the treacherous 10-step Korean skincare routine without parting from the benefits. In 2019, skincare routines are going to be a lot shorter and a lot more effective thanks to the growth of multipurpose products.

Building a routine that you can keep up with is going to start with products that can handle more than one job. Save time and save dimes by integrating two-in-one products into your routine. Whether it’s a primer that also moisturizes or a facemask with built-in serum, there are going to be a lot more versatile options available to give your skin more results with fewer products.

Personalization Is Key

2019 is all about you and your skin. Every face looks different and has different problems, which is why the best treatment for your skin is the most personal one. You won’t be able to have an expert microdermabrasion every day, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get the care you deserve at home.

The latest skincare technology is going to pair with the person who knows what you need most—you. Your skin isn’t the exact same as the person next to you, so why should you both be wearing the exact same products? Beauty companies are advocating technology that can scan your face to collect the exact dimensions to build a custom-fit face mask and questionnaires designed to give you a personalized beauty products based not only on your skin type, but also on your location and lifestyle.

Filling in the Blanks

Non-surgical procedures and treatments soared in 2018 with surges in cheek and lip fillers. As access to these options became more widely available, it became easier to get the look you want without the time and cost. And so, 2019 is going to be the year of giving the same improvement to areas below the neck.

If you’ve plumped your features with filler, you’re going to want to even out your complexion by giving more attention to the other areas that give away your age. The neck and chest are susceptible to sun damage, wrinkles and age spots, so be sure to ask your skincare professional about treatment options that can extend your youth in other places.

Taking care of your skin will always be a priority and we want to make sure that your complexion gets the attention and quality it needs. Call or schedule an appointment today to learn more about how to get your best skin in 2019.

First Facial? What to Expect Before You Go

It’s normal to feel pre-show jitters before any firsts, but when it comes to your first facial, you can leave any worries or nervousness at home. In the words of Dr. Michael Kaminer, “The typical facial is designed to exfoliate, hydrate and in some cases open blocked pores.” Let’s peel back information on what to expect both during and after your first facial and build confidence.

Before You Go

Booking a facial experience for the first time, you want to ensure you are prepared to be honest about your skin and your daily routine. Is your skin sensitive to anything? Do you put on any specific creams every day? Take note of what you use regularly on your face and tell your esthetician prior to the facial. Make sure to also analyze your diet and lifestyle to really figure out where some of your skin issues root from.

Create an end goal for your face—what issues are you trying to address? Do you want to reduce inflammation or restore hydration? Are there a few wrinkles you’re not loving or maybe some dryness? Being clear with your facial goals will help your esthetician understand your skincare needs and determine which facial option is best.

At the Appointment

When going to the spa for your first facial, or any facial, it’s suggested to be makeup free. The esthetician will have you fill out a form of your skin history and discuss your facial options and the process will begin.

Most facials will start off with a thorough cleansing. Your esthetician will steam and clean your skin, then move on to your specific facial. The facial you chose will work for your skin goals—chemical peels, hydration facials, stem cell facials, etc. Depending on the path taken, these facials will work to either exfoliate or moisturize and sometimes extract.

The extraction, also known as when the esthetician becomes Dr. Pimple Popper, is where some people become hesitant with facials. This comes after the facial towards the end of the appointment. The process of the extraction is to rid your skin of all the whiteheads and blackheads, getting as much gunk out as possible. It is completely normal to feel slight pain during the extraction, however if you feel any serious pain, say something.

Once It’s All Over

Your skin might be a bit sensitive depending on the treatment you received, so ask your esthetician what post-treatment soaps and lotions you should use. You may also be more sensitive to the sun, so sunscreen is definitely recommended as an aftercare product.

Your first facial treatment will not be a cure-all, so don’t expect perfect glowing skin after this first time around. But like anything else, if you’re willing to put in the effort, you can get your skin looking how you want it in no time, and we want to help you get there. Call Orlando Esthetics or schedule an appointment online today.
